Caramel Stuffed Cinnamon Sugar Donut Holes
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 12 caramel candies
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar optional, for dusting
Instructions:
All-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon should all be combined in a mixing bowl
To the dry ingredients, add the milk, vanilla extract, and melted unsalted butter
Stir to create a smooth batter
Pour a tiny quantity of batter into each mini muffin tin cavity, filling each to about one-third full
In the center of each cavity filled with batter, place a caramel candy
Add more batter to each cavity until it is about two thirds full of caramel candy
Combine the brown sugar and 1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon in a different bowl
Each filled cavity should be dipped into the melted unsalted butter and then coated by rolling it in the cinnamon-sugar mixture
In a deep pan or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350F 175C
Gently place the filled and coated donut holes into the heated oil, and cook, rotating occasionally, until golden brown, about two to three minutes
After removing the donut holes from the oil, set them on a plate covered with paper towels to absorb any leftover oil
Optional: For added sweetness, dust the caramel-filled cinnamon sugar donut holes with powdered sugar
Enjoy and warm up!
